Dorothy A. Rayburn, 89, of East Peoria, formerly of Havana, passed awayat Unity Point Methodist in Peoria, Illinois at 3:20 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016. She was born November 3, 1926 in Havana to John and Wilhelmina (Weimer) Kastendick. She married Earl Rayburn on June 4, 1949 inBath, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1999.
Mrs. Rayburn is survived by three sons: Ronald (Julia) Rayburn of Morton, Dennis (Cheryl) Rayburn of Warrensburg, Randy (Vickie) Rayburn of Marquette Heights, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Alsosurviving is one sister, Edna Herrmann of Chandlerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and six brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Rayburn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Matanzas where she was a member of the Ladies Aide and the Couples Club, along withher husband. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She had worked as acook in the Havana school system for many years, retiring in 1986.
Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Rev. Brian Lesemann will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or thedonor’s choice.
