He became a licensed veterinarian after going to school in Kansas City, Missouri and practiced some; moved into Ragan and became a livestock dealer and shipper, also operated a meat market there. The family then moved to a farm between Barnard and Graham, Missouri about 1908; they then moved from Barnard to Ragan about 1910 by railroad; and then in 1913 from Ragan by horse teams and wagons to the Boyd Allen Ranch, then abutting Cozad on the northwest corner; then in early 1914, they moved in the same manner from Cozad to the old Smythe place, where the house had been built with three separate living quarters, three separate stairs and rooms for the unmarried ladies who were the owners; the family then about 1917 moved to the Josephson acreage at 14th and Logan Streets in Holdrege, and resided there through 1919; then moved to the Dan C Sheler place on the northeast corner of Fourth and Burlington where W. W. was deceased, and the children all married, after which Eliza Elizabeth moved to one of the Nelson apartments located south of the brick apartment building. She later built the house just east of the Holdrege Library where she resided until her death. W. W. was a heavy investor in real estate owning at the time of his death, farms in Norton County, Kansas, Furnas County, Nebraska, and two farms in Phelps County, Nebraska. He was a licensed real estate dealer and quite active. He had the unfortunate experience of having contracted stomach trouble for which a doctor prescribed nitrate of silver solution which deposited under his skin and, particularly when itwas cold, would take on a light blue shade."
