| John Calvin Aten Birth: 4 Dec 1811 - Brooke County, West Virginia, USA Death: 17 Apr 1888 (aged 76) - Fulton County, Illinois, USA Burial: Salem Cemetery, Astoria, Fulton County, Illinois, USA Memorial ID: 25284211 Husband of Mary Jane Hall-Aten, son of William Aten and Jane Anderson-Aten. --- OBIT: Mr. John C. Aten was born in Brooke Co., West Virginia, near Fairview, Dec. 4, 1811, and departed this life April 17, 1888. He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Jane Hall in 1833. To them were born nine children, three of whom with his wife survive him. He united with the Associate Presbyterian church in 1848 at Tomblinson's Run. He emigrated to Fulton Co., Ill. in 1855 and settled on the farm where, he died. Upon coming to Illinois he united with the Presbyterian church at Vermont, and was still a member at his death. The funeral services were held at Salem Chapel, Wednesday afternoon, April 18th, and were conducted by Rev. Robert Carson, of Astoria. Note: He married Mary Jane Hall on 6 Mar 1833. Mary Jane Hall was born in 1811 in PA. Died on 27 Jun 1891 near Adair, McDonough Co., IL. Buried on 28 Jun 1891 in Salem Cemetery, Fulton Co., IL. The subject of this sketch is one of a numerous family of Virginians whom we mention elsewhere. John was joined in matrimony with Mary J. Hall, daughter of Robert Hall in Western Pennsylvania. John came to Illinois in 1855 and since his arrival here, has become quite prosperous and is the owner of a fine farm. There were born of the marriage referred to 9 children, only 4 of whom are living, -- Nancy A., John C., Wm H., and Elizabeth. Mr A. has held many offices, among them Lieut. Col. of Militia; Aid to the Governor with rank of Colonel; Justice of thePeace; Constable; Deputy Sheriff, and School Director. Aufzubauen und zu sehen, wie Find A Grave über seine kühnsten Erwartungen wuchs, war für Jimungeheuer befriedigend. Jeden Tag gaben Mitwirkende aus der ganzen Welt neue Datensätze ein, tausende verwendeten die Website als Bildungs-Nachschlagewerk, lange verlorengegblaubte Verwandte wurdenwiedergefunden und Millionen von Menschenleben bleiben in guter Erinnerung. In welcher anderen Art von Arbeit hätte Jim einer der letzten lebenden Munchkins getroffen, vort einer Versammlung von Grab-Enthusiasten in einem Hollywood-Mausoleum gesprochen und Schätze erworben, wie seinen antiken Sarg-Schraubendreher (nur zum Einschrauben)? | |
