Birth: 1531 Fotherby Lincolnshire, England Death: Aug., 1588 Habrough Lincolnshire, England Thomas Heaton was born about 1531, probably in Fotherby, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of John and Alice Heaton of Fotherby. In 1552, John left Thomas some livestock, some crops in the ground, bees, money, rent, furniture and clothing. Around 1560 he married a woman named Elizabeth, whose family name is unknown. Thomas managed his inheritance well enough so that he was a middle class farmer. Thomas and Elizabeth had six children. Thomas made his will on July 6, 1588, saying he was a "yeoma' sike of bodie & of good and pfecte memorie." He left his minor son William the lease of land named Phillipsonnes, livestock, furniture andcrops. He gave his eldest son John the lease on his land, money, crops in the field, livestock and furniture. He gave his daughter a dowry of 30 Pounds, providing that the husband would be approved by his brother and brother-in-law. Otherwise, she could make her own choice, but only got 20 Pounds in that case. He gave his youngest minor son money and livestock. Thomas died in August of 1588, andwas buried in the churchyard of St. Margaret's Church in Habrough on the 15th. His will was proved on October 24, 1588.
