St. Mary's church parish register includes details of births / burials of Quakers who had a Meeting house in the village for nearly 200 years. Memorial ID: 17512566 Richard Wall was first married to Joane Woole on 8mo/Oct 1, 1658 at a general meeting at Gloucester according to the Tirley Register of Marriages. It is believed that she was the mother of his children as their births/deaths are also recorded at Tirley prior to her 1675 death. No records have been found of children with his 2nd wife Joane Bubb. Joane (Woole) Wall died in 1675 and was buried 11mo/Jan 4 - her death is recorded in the Tirley Register of Burials. No records found to indicate her maiden name as Whell/Wheel, but others of the surname Woole can be found in these same records. Although the date of her burial is known, the location of same is unknown; the records for the meeting at Tirley, et al, simply state "friends burying ground at Tewkesbury" in Gloucester over 300 years ago. St. Mary's church parish register includes details of births and burials of Quakers, who had a Meeting House in the village for nearly 200 years. In 1670 the Friends were using three houses inSt. Mary's Lane as a meeting-house, and the site of a barn there as a burial ground. The meeting was licensed by Quarter Sessions in 1690.
