Zun&auml;chst &uuml;bernahm sein Bruder Friedrich Caspar M. (1802-1866) den v&auml;terlichen Betrieb, da M. im Zuge der Demagogenverfolgung 1834 wegen Teilnahme am revolution&auml;ren &bdquo;M&auml;nnerbund&ldquo; verhaftet und in die Konstablerwache verbracht worden war. Man verd&auml;chtigte ihn au&szlig;erdem der Beteiligung am Ffter Wachensturm 1833 und der versuchten Studentenbefreiung aus der Konstablerwache 1834. Diese beiden Anklagepunkte konnten ihm nicht nachgewiesen werden, jedoch war seine aktive Beteiligung am &bdquo;M&auml;nnerbund&ldquo;, der den Umsturz der Ordnung des Deutschen Bundes zum Ziel hatte, nachgewiesen durch Teilnahme an den Sektionssitzungen, f&uuml;r die er selbst einen Raum angemietet hatte, Verteilung von Flugschriften und Teilnahme an Exerzier&uuml;bungen, die auch im Hause seines Bruders, des Tuchbereitermeisters Johann Caspar M. (1804-1852), stattgefunden hatten. Die sp&auml;ter entstandene Geschichte, M. habe durch ein Fu&szlig;bad einen Gef&auml;ngnisw&auml;rter abgelenkt, um seinen Mith&auml;ftlingen zum Ausbruch aus der Konstablerwache zu verhelfen, geh&ouml;rt in das Reich der Legenden. In den folgenden Jahrzehnten wieser die Richtung f&uuml;r den Ausbau und die Entwicklung von der kleinen Fabrik zu einem weltbekannten Kosmetikunternehmen. Noch 1843 wurde die Firma in &bdquo;J. G. Mouson &amp; Co.&ldquo; umbenannt.M. nahm Friedrich Bachfeld in die Firma auf, der, seit etwa 1844/45 als Kompagnon, f&uuml;r den kaufm&auml;nnischen Bereich zust&auml;ndig war. Bereits 1844 begann M., den Schwerpunkt von der Seifen-und Lichterproduktion auf Feinseifen und Parf&uuml;merien umzustellen. Die angestrebte Qualit&auml;tserh&ouml;hung erreichte er durch Schulung des Arbeiterpersonals. Seit 1851 lie&szlig; er eine Sodasiederei in Bornheim betreiben. Die Lichterfabrikation wurde 1858 aufgegeben.
