BICKNELL — Lillian F. Mackey, 78, of Bicknell died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Knox County to Albert C. Grabbe and Lena J. Ritterskamp Grabbe.
Survivors include her husband, Carl W. Mackey, whom she married Feb. 23, 1947; one daughter, Corlena C. Cabello of Bicknell; seven sons, Myron C. Mackey, Daniel D. Mackey, Mark W. Mackey and Joseph L. Mackey, all of Bicknell, Albert L. Mackey of Swanton, Ohio, Allan R. Mackey of Carlisle and Kris K. Mackey of Brownsburg; 35 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy L. Grabbe of Freelandville; and two sisters, June E. Eppersimon of Summerville, S.C., and Alberta “Bertie” L. Clifford of Terre Haute. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Carl O. Cabello; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter, her namesake, Lillian E. Lemberg; two sisters, Ruth Bubenzer and Vera Hill; and one brother, Herbert L. Grabbe.
She attended Word of Life Church in Bicknell, She visited nursing homes, was a foster parent to several children, hosted exchange students and was in prison ministry. Her faith in God was demonstrated by her acts of kindness and volunteer work, such as being a volunteer reading tutor. She also gave piano lessons.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday in Bethel Church in Freelandville, with the Revs. John M. Moreland and Harold Weldy officiating. Burial is in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in the church. McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell, assisted with arrangements.
