NOTE: In RCLPL's tree.In Tree of the 30th Carmichael of Carmichael.In Douglas' Scots Peerage, his father in law, Hugh Crawford, heis recordedas marrying the daughter Marion.In Burke's extinct Peers:"Gavin Carmichael, of Hyndford, of which he ad a charter in1547. His son,"James Carmichael, of Hyndford, m. Marian Campbell, dau of SirHugh Campbell, of Loudon, by Lady Elizabeth Stewart, dau. ofMatthew, Earl of Lennox, and great-grand-dau of James II., Kingof Scotlnad, and Queen mayr of Gueldres. By her he had, withother issue, as son,"Walter Carmichael of Hyndford, who d. in 1616. ..." [wrongdate...]In Scot's Peers, Vol IV, p. 582, they say his real name wasCharles, he was wrongly styled James and thathe may havemarried a daughter of Chrichton 'of Saurie'.
