NOTE: There is a tradition quoted by Clayton that these Barentons weredescended from an Adam of Barrington, Cambridgeshire who wasbaptised bySt Augustine of Canterbury. This legend is used toaccount for the friar in the Barrington crest. Soundsfar-fetched to me.
