During the government of King James II, he was oblihed to fly his country, and engaged himself in the service of Lord Paget, Ambassador for King William III at the Court of Vienna, to whom he was both Chaplain andSecretary.
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dublin. He was made bishop of Cloyne in 1695, was translated to Clogher in 1697, and to Derry in 1716-17.
