There were two George Hubbards in and about Hartford between 1636 and 1640. Rev. Dr. Chapin says: "April 5, 1638, George Hubbard, a member ofthe General Court from Wethersfield, was fined one shilling for not being present at the opening of the court at seven o'clock in the morning." The Rev. Dr. Field says that the George Hubbard who settled in Middletown "was a distinct person from the George Hubbard who resided in Wethersfield, Milford and Guilford. The genealogies of their families showthis." Fortunately the will of George Hubbard of Middletown is still inexistence. It is dated in 1681, and in it, he says he is 80 years of age In 1685 the inventory of his estate was taken, in which it is statedthat he died March 18, 1684.
