Harold H. Johnson, 82, of the Grand Island, died Sunday, October 28, 2001 at the Grand Island VA Medical Center. Services will be Monday, November 5, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Vernon Rice officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the donors choice. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Johnson was born in Howard County on October 22, 1919 to Clyde and Rosa (Hunter) Johnson. He attended school in Howard County. Harold joined the Army in 1942 and served until 1945. He married Arlene Hoppes in Arizona and they moved to Grand Island in 1953. Arlene died June 30, 1975. He married Betty Humiston on June 12, 1976. Harold was employed by the City of Grand Island, later by Rapid Freight Co. He also worked at Skagway until he retired. He was a member of the Church of God. Survivors include: wife Betty of Grand Island; two sons Errol Johnson of Sturgis, South Dakota; Kerry Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter Lael and husband Douglas Lukesh of Sturgis, South Dakota; two step-daughters Janet Winkler of Schaller, Iowa; Carol Roberts of Eagle, Nebraska; step-son Stanley Skay of Cherokee, Iowa; one brother, Glenn Johnson of Burwell, Nebraska; one sister, Mildred Boilsen of Kearney, Nebraska, two grandsons; eleven step grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death: by his first wife Arlene, sister Mrs. Alta Benton, and brother Raymond Johnson.
