Susan Annie HOPPES

Sie wurde wie ihr zweiter Ehemann auf dem Lyons Cemetery in Lyons im Burt County im State Nebraska, von ihrem ersten Ehemann wurde sie im Jahr 1893 geschieden. Susan married Charles March 10, 1873, and became stepmother to his three sons from his first marriage and three children from his second. She bore ten children (four "died young"), and divorced Charles in 1893. She married John Jump in 1894. I, Gladys Iona Freel Brown have the privilege of writing these memories of my grandmother, Susan Hoppes Jenkins.....After Johnnie's death, Susan and John Jump, and their son, Joe, moved to Cascade Co. Montana. They raised cattle and farmed wheat. John Jump took a load of cattle to Great Falls, Montana, in 1922, and never returned to Cascade (he was later found to be living in Nebraska). Susan and Joe sold the farm and returned to Thurston Co. Nebraska. Susan was a midwife (Velma Jenkins Dudney remembers her "helping out" when Gordon and Donna Jenkins were born) and "nurse". Susan always dressed neat and clean in a calico or gingham dress with a long tie apron. She wore shoes that buttoned or had laces. She had a bun on top of her head and she had one wave in front and two combs in back of her hair.
