PATEN waren: Jacob Reichert, Pfarrer zu Oberndorf und seine Ehefrau Henrietta Christine, geborene Bayer als Großeltern mütterlicher Seite. Johann Balthasar Prätorius, als Großvater väterlicher Seite.
Er musste früh das Elternhaus verlassen und noch ehe er konfirmiert war in eine Lehre in ein Gerbereigeschäft in Grünstadt/Pfalz eintreten. In Grünstadt/Pfalz wurde er dann auch konfirmiert Nach vierjähriger Lehrzeit in Grünstadt/Pfalz kam er nach Wiesbden als Geschäftsführer, bis ihn die Militärpflicht nach Mainz rief, wo er 3 Jahre Dienst tat, das letzte Jahr als Regimentsschreiber. Er kam am 03.10.1845 nach Stuttgart und gründete mit
Carl Beringer aus Michelstadt/Odenwald ein Ledergeschäft in Stuttgart und Urach.
