Balthasar Crusius (latinisiert aus Krauß, * 12. März 1550 in Werdau; †26. März 1630) war ein evangelischer Theologe, Schulrektor, Pfarrer und Autor von Schuldramen. Crusius erwarb seine humanistisch-philologische Erziehung in der Fürstenschule Grimma (von 1568 bis 1575) und studierte anschließend an der Universität Leipzig. Als Präzeptor der Familie von Einsiedel auf Gnandstein begleitete er deren Söhne Heinrich undHildebrand an die Universität Tübingen, wo er seine Studien bei Professor Martin Crusius vertiefte. Seine erste Stelle als Rektor erhielt er 1586 an der Lateinschule in Gardelegen. Im Zuge der politisch-konfessionellen Wende nach dem Tod des Kurfürsten August ging Crusius 1587 als Rektor an die Lateinschule in Chemnitz
