Clemens and Gertrude stayed in MO less than year, moved to Festina, Winnesiak County,IA</p></p><p><p>Farmed in Washington township the first year then in 1865 purchased farm in Military township 96 North, Range 8, West of the 5th Principle Meridian, Section 6, NW quarter.</p></p><p><p>Passport Application 10/28/1866 for travel tto Germany indicated Johann at the time to have gray eyes, blind in one eye, brown hair and 5'2"</p></p><p><p>Our Lady of Seven Dolos Parish built on landdonated by Clemens and Gertrude</p></p><p><p>Oath of citizenship in 1858</p></p><p><p>Buried in Catholic Cemetery, Festina, IA</p></p><p><p>Story is that Clemens died following a fall from his horsewhile riding down the Main St of Decorah. He was carried from the street to an adjacent store where he died.</p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Northen Funkes had "e" on name. Our ancestors were Roman Catholic in Protestant Luthern area of Westphalia.</p></p><p>In 1930 Westphalia was annexed by Prussia.~</p>
