Anton Wilhelm STRUCKMANN

<p>SOURCE: STRUCKMAN FAMILY HISTORY prepared by William F. Struckman and CLDS package # 15. He is my third great grandfather-B.A.S.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>We have a certificate of his birth taken fromthe old Kirchbuch and signed by the Pastor on 20 July 2005---see Tab 2 of Struckman Family History Binder. This birth record shows that he was born at Number 15 Liekwegen and that his godparent was Wilhelm Roebke (Roebbeke?). A similiar certificate for Anton's son Carl Heinrich (see tab 4) describes Anton as a landless farm worker (Einlieger). This latter certificate shows Anton and his family living at number 18 Liekwegen which I believe is a house on Liekwegen Strasse near Sulbeck.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>According to the ANCESTRY WORLD TREE PROJECT Anton was confirmed in the Lutheran Churchin Suelbeck in 1807.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>The STRUCKMAN FAMILY HISTORY lists him as WILHELM STRUCKMANN. CLDS package #15 and the aforementioned birth record shows that he was baptized ANTON WILHELMSTRUCKMANN. Apparently he went by his second given name as did his brothers CHRISTIAN LUDWIG and ANTON FRIEDRICH shown in THE HISTORY as LUDWIG and FRIEDRICH, respectively.</p><p><p></p></p><p>The aforementioned differences in the first given names between the STRUCKMAN FAMILY HISTORY and the official church records indicates that WILLIAM F. STRUCKMAN got some of his information from a source other than the official church records, probably family records and recolections from his father and grandparents. It was apparently very common for Germans to go by their second (or third) given name in family communications.
