Notes for this person

Johann was born in Liekwegen and baptised at the church in Sulbeck on January 26, 1743 or 1744. The sponsor was his uncle Johann Henrich Heumann.

Johann and Anna were marriedin Sulbeck on October 29, 1767. They had nine children.

Source for much of the information on this family is the ANCESTRY WORLD TREE PROJECT obtained from Ancestry.com. This information was originally obtained from the Parish Registry in Suelbeck, Schaumburg Lippe, Germany. See the Emma's Tree Binder.

I also found an entry for him in FamilySearch.org--see Struckman Familuy History Binder III of IGI records---record number 35. Almost all of the information I have on Johann's ancestors dating back into the mid 1600's comes from this same source I found in November 2009. The 1650's seems to be the earliest records we can find from the Sulbeck church books.

Daughter SOPHIA ELISABETH HEUMANN (born 1779) is believed to have married ANTON WILHELM STRUCKMAN in 1817 and is therefore my third great grandmother (BAS). The name, place (small village of Liekwegen), and time frame (living around 1700) all match. Also, the age disparity at the time of their marriage--she was 38 and he was 24--recorded in the Parish Registry confirms it. This is important because it connects the information obtained from the ANCESTRY WORLD TREEPROJECT with the information obtained from THE STRUCKMAN FAMILY HISTORY prepared by William F. Struckmann and the INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX maintained by the Mormon Church.

Liekwegen is a small village about two miles from Suelbeck and is served by the Lutheran Parish in Suelbeck. The records I have to work with usually give the date and place of burial but not always the date of death. I believe that people living in Liekwegen were probably buried in Suelbeck but they could have died in Liekwegen. If the date of death is given I put in the exact date. If only theburial date is given I put in only the month and year of burial as an approximation for the date of death.
