Nach dem 1. Weltkrieg war er in Frankfurt/Oder stationiert. Helena Galinat hat ihn dort mit ihrer Aussteuer, die ihr ihre Familie mitgab, gesucht. In Frankfurt/Oder wurde auch ihren Sohn Richard geboren und getauft. Wie es sich herausstellte, war Vater von Richard schon verheiratet und liess Helena Galinat als unerwünschte Ausländerin (Litauerin) ausweisen.
