OBITUARY for LaurenDonaldHaskins; recent residence: Laguna Woods, CA.
Lauren Donald Haskins passed away peacefully on December 3rd after a prolonged illness. As he passed his wife Christina was holding his hand and telling him how much he was loved. Don was born September 7, 1938, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Billee Mae Sinn and Loren Haskins. Don's father, Loren, was in the Navy and worked on the mathematics of the kickback of the huge guns on the battleships. The second war started, and little Don was moved yearly coast to coast until he was a Senior in High School. Don coped by becoming a charismatic loving man who made friends and kept them. Don loved Physics and won the National Science award in his Senior year from Bell labs for designing a solar cell. He met his lifetime friend Danny at Long Beach College studying physics. Don passed the State Board for Professional Control System Engineers. Danny had moved but they stayed lifetime friends. Danny, Don's close friend Michael, and all who knew Don talked of his brilliance, inventiveness, leadership, and responsible character. Don developed graphic computer art skills producing beautiful works, but his prize piece was a pencil drawing of "The Snow Queen". Don wrote books and continued to work on his favorite project "Kyrow" with his Son Lauren. The Kyrow Invention went to the Worlds Fair in Vancouver and remains an inventive unique patented design for man-powered water sports. Don worked in Real Estate as a side profession, but it became a full-time career leading him to design and build a beautiful Mountain home where his wife Chris and he could entertain their 7 children and their families. The "Ranch" was a place of refuge, peace, horseback riding, and Nature. During this time Don became a recipient of a heart transplant which led to his final wishes to donate his body to USC where he had received his new heart. Don will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his humor, creative inquiring mind, generous spirit. Don was a true believer and, in his book, "Children of the Universe" he wrote, using his characters, about the spiritual world as he experienced it.
