Notes for this person
On Monday, December 13, 1915, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. August Brockman and family, in Millville township, occurred the death of Mrs. Sophia Moser, after a lingering illness, at the age of 78 years. Deceased was born in Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany, in October, 1837, and later came to the United States, settling at Guttenberg, Iowa. She also lived at Garnavillo for a time, after which she came to Millville township, where she lived until her death. She was married two times, both of her husbands preceding her in death years ago. She was a kind and loving mother and friend, and she was always ready with heart and hand to help those in need, which won her many friends during her life, and by whom she will be sadly missed. She was a patient sufferer and all that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for her to ward off death, but all to no avail. Her death is deeply mourned by two sons, Herman Mohrman, of Guttenberg, and John Mohrman, of Clinton, Iowa, one daughter, Mrs. August Brockman, of Millville township, 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends. Of late she had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Aug. Brockman, in Millville township, where the funeral services were held today. Interment was made in the Dittmer Cemetery in Jefferson township. The funeral was largely attended, which showed that deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
[NOTE: Her maiden name w[NOTE: Her maiden name was Klaehen, Klehen, Klön, or some variant of those surnames, based on St. Paul Lutheran Church records, Garnavillo, IA. Her first husband was Johann Hermann Mohrmann, and her second husband was Tobias Moser. She was named as a surviving sister of Friedericke Lake of Guttenberg, who died in 1914.]
