Wilbur H. Brookman Sr., age 84, of Manhattan, died Friday, August 10, 2007, at Silver Cross Hospital, Joliet.
He is survived by two sons, Wilbur (Maryann) Brookman Jr. of Joliet and Daniel (Kathy) Brookman of Manhattan; one daughter, Betty (Donald) Axelsen of St. Charles, IL; two grand daughters, Lorraine (Scott) Offerman and Dana (Mike) Schubbe; four grandsons, James, David (Brandee) and Andrew Brookman and Joshua Axelsen; great grandchildren, Brianna Schubbe, and Tony and Jason Brookman. Also survived by one brother-in-law Lloyde Matthews of Frankfort and three sisters-in-law, Loretta (Ray) Seggebruch of Manhattan, Shirley Kuebel of Gardner and Angie Barten of Joliet.
Preceded in death by his parents, William C. Brookman and Ida Bauch Brookman; his wife of 65 years Marie Brookman; one daughter, Phyllis; and two sisters; Irene Haakinson and Clara Matthews.
Wilbur was born in New Lenox and farmed all of his life in Manhattan Twp. A life-time member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.
Funeral Service for Wilbur H. Brookman Sr. will be Tuesday, 10:30 A.M., August 14, 2007 at the Forsythe Funeral Home, Manhattan. Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto officiating. Interment Manhattan Center Cemetery. Memorials to the St. Paul United Church of Christ or Manhattan Paramedics would be most appreciated. Visitation Monday, 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
