1. The following was copied from the 7 Jan 2002 issue of the Asheville

Citizen-Times: "Spartanburg, S.C. - Catherine Brockman Sanders,

83, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Mary Black Hospital. Born in

Greer, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Paul Vandiver and

Mae Baggott Brockman. She was a graduate of Furman University

and dedicated herself to teaching and supporting her husband's

professional, religious and charitable pursuit of music. Survivors

include a daughter, Donna S. Painter of Asheville; a son, John W.

Sanders, Jr. of Greer, S.C., eight grandchildren and six great-grand-

children. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Sanders

and by one of her sons, Edward B. Sanders. The funeral services

will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wood Mortuary, Greer, S.C.,

conducted by Dr. Guy Sayles. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial

Park. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wood

mortuary. The family is at the home of John W. Sanders Jr., 102

Lytle Street, Greer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to

the Charlotte Music Club, c/o Sharon Cinq-Mars, 9600 Henson

Drive, Matthews, NC 28105."
