Muchow, 87 of Grand Island, died, Sunday, March 23, 2014 at her home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Reverend Todd Philipsen officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Therese was born June 11, 1926, at Sigourney, Iowa to William J. and Elizabeth M. (Biede) Bermel. She grew up in the Grand Island area where she attended District 1 School through the fourth grade and completed her education at St. Mary's Catholic School graduating in 1944. She married Marvin L. Muchow on April 7, 1947, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Theresa worked in various government offices throughout her working years. She worked in the Hall County Sherriff's Office, Assessor's Office, Clerk's Office and Civil Defense. She retired at the age of 78. Therese also would work weekends at the Stuhr Museum. Therese enjoyed various arts and crafts, and also enjoyed floral arranging. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and volunteered at the Parish Thrift Store. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Platt Duetsche Society and Liederkranz. Survivors include three children; Barbara Ann Stockhausen of Cleveland, Ohio, William Frederick Muchow of Ravenna, Vincent Paul Muchow of Louisville, Kentucky; her sister, Lucille Dillon of Alameda, CA, seven grandchildren; Lauren, Edward & Marc Stockhausen, Tara Muchow, Geoffrey Muchow, Amanda Rood and Jonathan Muchow, four great grandchildren, Kinleigh and Jaxon Rood, Colby and Caleb Jones and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Elizabeth Biede Bermel, and sisters, Mary Scotto and Dorothea Curd.
