Ella J. Sasse died January 18, 1994, at Moberly Caring Center in Moberly. Funeral services were held Friday, January 21, 1994 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Brunswick, Pastor Glen Drewitz officiating. She was born April 22, 1903 in the Dalton area, the daughter of John and Caroline Brandt Kuhlman. On February 21, 1924 she was married to Romeo H. Sasse who preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Sasse lived in the Dalton area her entire life. Mrs. Sasse graduated form the Brunswick Public School. She taught in the Chariton County School system for several years and was past president of the BHS Alumni Association. She was past Republican Township Committee Woman for Bowling Green Township and was a Collector for the township taxes for several years. She was an agent for New York Life Insurance Company for several years and sold insurance out of her home. Mrs. Sasse was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Lutheran Ladies Club, also being a charter member of Dalton Homebuilders Ladies Club. She was a member of Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Mrs. Sasse was one of eight children, having five sisters and two brothers. One sister, Paula Fiester, Brunswick, survives. She is also survived by three nieces, Margie Jansen, Brunswick, Emma Jean Gambrell, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Caroline Crawford, Aurora, Colorado. Two nephews, L. E. Manson, Dalton, and Maurice Feitz, Kansas City, also survive, and other family and friends who mourn her death. Pallbearers: Bob Littleton, Darren Littleton, Meredith Manson, Paul Manson, Doug Grotjan, Gerard Jansen, Keith Leimkuehler and Bill Blunk. Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Gambrell, Don Heath, Bill Henderson, Dr. D. D. Stuart, Dennis Straub, Richard Leimkuehler, Bill Brandt, Jim Newsom, Edgar Kistler and Kirk Gunn.
