Aus Find A Grave: Alton Herman Neidig GEBURT 9 Dez 1921 Travis County, Texas, USA TOD 5 Feb 2013 (im Alter von 91) Texas, USA BESTATTUNG Pleasant Grove Cemetery Elgin, Bastrop County, Texas, USA GEDENKSTÄTTEN-ID 104807254 Alton Herman Neidig, age 91 of Elgin, was welcomed to his eternal home on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Alton was born on December 9, 1921 on his family's home place in Travis County, Texas to Herman Neidig and Laura Mayer Neidig. Alton was baptized, confirmed and a life time member at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. As a young man he joined the United States Army during World War II, serving abroad in Japan where he received numerous medals. He was also a member of Elgin Masonic Lodge #328. During his life, Alton and his brothers ran a custom harvesting company, he retired from the University of Texas after 28 years of service, and was an agent for German American Mutual Life Insurance Company for 22 years. Some of Alton's favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, watching the Houston Astros play, as long as they were winning, and the Texas Longhorns. His greatest love was watching his grandchildren play sports and his family. Alton was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alwin Neidig Sr. and wife Imogene, and Leon Neidig; and a sister Leona Jarmon and husband Gerald. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mailien Veith Neidig; two sons Harlan Neidig and wife Valarie and Ronald Neidig and wife Rebecca; a daughter Phyllis Behrend and husband Ralph; grandchildren Matthew Behrend and wife Josie, Brian Behrend and wife Christina, Brandon Neidig, Jenna Neidig, Nicolette Neidig, Jacob Neidig, and Emma Neidig; great-grandchildren Alton, Liliana and Ella Behrend; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister -in-law Alice Neidig and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Milroy and Patsy Krebs. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2013, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A celebration of Alton's life will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 11, 2013, St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Elgin. Interment with military honors will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Memorials in Alton's memory can be made to the Austin Christopher House or St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. (Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home)
