Brokmeyer.Gladys Amalia Ida Brokmeyer married Wilkins Henry Brune on July 20,1940 in the Lutheran Parsonage in Frelsburg by Pastor Leo Simon.They were blessed with 54 years of marriage.She was housewife,homemaker,and business partner in those 54 years of marriage.Children born to this marriage are: Ronald Brune Brenda Brune Tonn 4 Grandchildren 2 Great-Grandchildren Gladys was born at the Brune Place in the Zimmerscheidt Community.She was educated in New Ulm School District and graduated from New Ulm High School in May 1938 a valedictorian of her class.She enjoyed math and theater arts.She liked to be in plays and loved to perform monologues. Gladys was baptized into the christian faith on February 6,1921 by Pastor Hans Krause of Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsburg.When the family moved to the New Ulm Community in her early childhood,She became a member of St.John Lutheran Church in New Ulm.She was confirmed as a young adult on August 9,1936 by Pastor H.C. Poehlmann.In her younger days she served as a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the church choir.She was part of the alter guild for many years.She was active in the Women of the ELCA for 58 years and enjoyed piecing quilts for Lutheran World Relief.Her hobbies included quilting,sewing,crocheting,playing dominoes,and talking to friends on the phone. Funeral services were conducted for Gladys Brune,83,Sunday August 22,2004 at 3:00 p.m. at St.John Lutheran Church in New Ulm with the Rev.Bill Mosley officiating.Under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Pallbearers were Donald Brokmeyer,James Brokmeyer,Luke Pierce,Robert Neese,Arlen Brune and Larry Brune. Honorary Pallbearers were Albert Hoppe,Layne Hoppe,Bruce Brokmeyer,Randy Brokmeyer,Robin Maertz,Penny Neese,Nancy Dibbler,Sharon Biggs,Vaughn Brune and David Brune. The family of Gladys Brune wishes to thank you for your presence here today.Your christian support through prayers,visits,and other expressions of kindness and compassion continue to be a great blessing to us.
