Aus Find A Grave: Gordian Ludwig Busch BIRTH 26 Oct 1821 DEATH 29 Jan 1894 BURIAL Busch Family Cemetery Dundee, Franklin County, Missouri, USA MEMORIAL ID 72543473 It has become our painful duty to record the death of another of Franklin County's prominent citizens. Gordion L. Busch may be classed among the pioneers of our county, having been a citizen the past 58 years. Born in Germany in 1822, he came to America at the early age of 13 and settled with his parents on the Cedar Grove Farm, some 4 miles west from Washington, in 1836. There, in his early manhood, he brought his bride, a daughter of "Far-West" Muench, there they lived a long, happy, and prosperous life, and reared an honorable family; there but a few months ago he buried his life partner, and last Friday forenoon, June 29, 1894, at the ripe age of 72, he in turn, bade adieu to all on earth, and on Sunday, first instant, loving friends and neighbors laid his earthly remains by the side of those of the loved one gone before. Hon. J. C. Kiskaddon delivered the funeral address at the grave in the presence of a large congregation. The life of the deceased has been a very active one. He improved an ideal American farm, and did as much as any other man in our county to honor the profession he chose. A visit to Cedar Grove has been considered a treat to many eminent men from beyond our state lines. To Mr. and Mrs. Busch were born thirteen children. The following eight still survive: Mrs. Ida Freicke, residing in Louisville, Kentucky; Misses Louisa and Marianna now at Cedar Grove, and Julius, Edward and Charles (twins), Oscar and Fred. Aus dieser Ehe gingen 13 Kinder hervor, von denen neun das Erwachsenenalter erreichten. Gordian Ludwig widmete sich auf der väterlichen Farm Cedar Grove bei Washington/Franklin Cty. besonders der Pferdezucht und führte vor allem aus Europa Traubensorten ein, die er in seinen Weinbergen züchtete. Buschs Ehefrau Pauline starb 1891 auf Cedar Grove, er selbst 1894. Die Farm ist noch heute im Familienbesitz. Neben dem alten und kleineren Ziegelhaus der Eltern (mit Erweiterungsspuren) steht das neuere große Wohnhaus; ferner sind Stallungen und das alte Räucherhaus erhalten.
