Joye Louise MACKEY

Funeral services for Joye Blain, age 82, of Thatcher will be conducted Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Thatcher LDS Stake Center by Brother Tom Ollerton of the Thatcher Seventh Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Thatcher Cemetery. Joye passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 18, 2012, in Tucson following a brief illness. Joye Louise Blain was born Aug. 29, 1929, in South River, N. J., the youngest of five children to Lewis and Emily Mackey. After completing high school, she began working for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company and was later transferred to Phoenix to work for Mount States Telephone Company. While residing in Phoenix, she was introduced to and later married Kenneth Blain. Joye was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family so much and was also a very good friend to many, always sharing a smile and a compliment or two. People loved being around her. Throughout her life, Joye enjoyed music and appreciated the peace it brought to her. She was also a sports enthusiast and followed several sports, both professional and local, and would often listen to the games on the radio, especially the Arizona Diamondbacks. Joye was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout her lifetime. She loved attending church and was happy when her health would permit her to. Joye endured much in this life, especially in her later years, and always had gratitude for her blessings. Her sweet spirit and love and concern for others will be missed. Joye is survived by her two sons, David (Jeanne) of Everett, Wash., and Loren (Julia) of Germany; and three grandchildren, Brian, Ted and Joye; a nephew, Joel (Kim); and a niece, Joyce Mackey. Joye was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, in 1996; her mother and father, Emily Tewes Mackey and Lewis Mackey; and four siblings. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning, March 21, 2012, from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., at the Thatcher LDS Stake Center Relief Society Room. The family suggests donations be made to Tucson Medical Center Hospice Peppi's House in Tucson. Arrangements are entrusted to Vining Funeral Home. Obit: Eastern Arizona Courier, Safford, Arizona.
