Wilson Dennis Clay Wilson, 64, a native of Ketchum, Idaho and the Wood River Valley, passed away May 24, 2017, in Palm Springs, Calif. He was a courageous warrior during his six-year battle with cancer and will always be loved and missed. A celebration of life will be determined at a later date. Dennis C. Wilson, born Aug. 13, 1952, passed away May 24, 2017, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. In the most recent years, Dennis participated in clinical trials to further research for new treatments in the fight against cancer. Dennis attended Ketchum Grade School and graduated from Wood River High School in 1970. He attended Boise State University working on a biology major/pre-radiology courses and St. Alphonsus School of Radiology for two years, achieving his certificate of degree as a radiologic technologist. He worked in the Moritz Community Hospital Radiology Department from 1977 to 1988. In 1988, Dennis and a business partner opened Silverado Western Wear, then a second store, El Dorado. His interest in promoting country-Western involved his participation in the Miss Rodeo Idaho program for many years as well as being a member of the Idaho High Country Swingers. As part of the dance group, he helped choreograph, taught lessons, danced in performances and competed in competitions on regional and national levels. In 2007, he moved to Palm Springs, Calif., where he enjoyed the desert Southwest and worked in retail at the Pottery Barn and as assistant store manager at Between the Sheets. The outdoors and Idaho were a major part of his life. He loved whitewater rafting, backpacking, mountain climbing, skiing, mountain biking and houseboating in Utah, just to name a few. International travel was a big part of his enjoyment as well, traveling with friends and his brother to different parts of the world. He was generous, caring and always one to enjoy life with his family and friends. He will be missed greatly but never forgotten and will forever be in the hearts of many. There will be a celebration of his life at the Ketchum Forest Service Park on Aug. 12 from 2-5 p.m. Bring a favorite photo and share your stories. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Don S. Wilson, and is survived by his mother, Betty; his brothers, Don and Randy; and nephew, Dennis Wilson, and family in Boise. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to a charity of your choice or USC Norris, Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1441 Eastlake Ave, Suite 8302, Los Angeles, CA 90033, noting Dennis C. Wilson Memorial Fund, which is in support of cancer research and clinical trials.
