Thompson, Helen BALLSTON SPA -- Helen Thompson, 93, formerly of Church Avenue, Ballston Spa, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa. Born in Bacon Hill, N.Y., Nov. 24, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle King Cook. Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her family. She also loved to play bingo. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ballston Spa. Mrs. Thompson was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Thompson; son, Philip Thompson; and granddaughter, Malinda Collins. Survivors include: three sons, Edwin Thompson Jr. of Poughkeepsie, George Thompson and his wife, Beverly, of Ballston Spa, and Kenneth Thompson of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Linda Collins and her husband, William, of Ballston Spa; sister, Mazie Washburn and her husband, Donald, of DelRay Beach, Fla.; brother, Raymond Cook and his wife, Barbara, of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High St., Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in the Ballston Spa Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Armer funeral home.
