Johnson, 100, of West Point, formerly of Denmark, died at 8:35 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at West Point Care Center. Born Sept. 4, 1909, at her home in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Herman and Emma K. Wagner Hasenclever. She married Edwin Johnson in Fort Madison. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Johnson worked at Sheaffer Pen Co. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of West Point Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing Scrabble with her family. Survivors include one stepson, Howard Johnson of Burlington; two stepdaughters, Helen Perkins and Darlene Newton, both of Burlington; 10 stepgrandchildren; 24 stepgreat-grandchildren; 25 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; one brother, Delbert Hasenclever of West Point; one sister, Elda Woodroffe of Fort Madison; nieces; and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and two infant sisters. Visitation with family present will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison. The funeral service for Mrs. Johnson will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barr Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dick Eis, officiating. Burial will be at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established for West Point Presbyterian Church.
