John was born on Feb. 17, 1933, in New Haven, son of the late Dr. John Byron Noll Sr. and Jennie (Nonn) Noll. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean conflict. He retired as a machinist with Eric & Cowell. In his spare time, he was an avid NASCAR fan and assembled World War II airplane models. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary Noll of Waterbury; two sons, Byron Joseph Noll and his wife, Maria, of Branford, Earl H. Gray III and his wife, Susan, of Massachusetts; and a daughter, Suzanne Casanova of Waterbury. He also leaves two sisters, Janet Pierson and her husband, Bud, of California, and Joanne Tursek and her husband, Don, of Northford; a daughter-in-law, Beth Gray of Branford; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Gray. Relatives and friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. Interment is private in Beaverdale Cemetery.
