Cook, 69, of 1505 Bloomingrove Road, Williamsport, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Hershey Medical Center. Born Oct. 20, 1939, in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Raymond F. Cook, who died in 1957 and Elizabeth (Schadt) Peters, who died in 2005. His step-father, Lesley C. Mayer died in 1967, and his second step-father, Casper L. Peters died in 2003. He was 1957 graduate of Williamsport High School. Don was a Master Instructor for the Professional Association of Diving Instructors since 1969. He was a course director and held 23 specialty instructor ratings. He was owner of Cook's Electronics, established in 1963, Don Cook's Scuba Equipment, established in 1968, and the Hurr's Dairy Store, established in 1980. All the businesses are located at 940 Market St. Don's concern for safety and the timely response to drowning victims led him to be a charter member of the West Branch Scuba Team started in 1978. He has served as chairman of the Board and Commander to the present time. He represented the scuba team on the Lycoming County EMS Council and the Lycoming County Law Enforcement Association. He was a member of the Covenant Central Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a step-brother, Bruce R. Peters of Beech Creek; three step-sisters, Lillian Newcomer of Harrisburg, Helen Casselberry of Williamsport, and Kathleen Wagner of Tylersville.
