Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, in Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Terry, Hospice of San Angelo chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12. Mrs. Waters was born Nov. 20, 1922, to Emmett and Flora Sonnenberg Brosig on the family ranch on Concho County. She graduated from Paint Rock High School in 1940 and San Angelo Junior College in 1942. She served as a deputy clerk at the Concho County District Clerks office, as an assistant mail carrier and ran a sheep operation at her Dry Hollow ranch. A 50-year member of the Sons of Hermann Lodge, she also was active in the Lowake Home Demonstration Club and assisted in the renovation of the Lowake school into a community center which is still in use today. In 1978 she married Al Waters of San Angelo at Unity Church. They owned and operated Waters Furniture in the early 1980s. She was an active volunteer at West Texas Rehabilitation Center and was instrumental in organizing the Silver Spur Ball which has benefited WTRC since 1990. She was predeceased by her father and three husbands. She is survived by her husband of the home; her mother, who resides in Eden; a daughter, Deanna Lackey and her husband, JERRY LACKEY , of San Angelo; four granddaughters, Melanie Gonzales and husband, Edward, of Grapevine, Angela Taylor and husband, Corey, of San Angelo, Maree Pennell and husband, Marty, and Lacy Lackey, all of San Antonio; four great-grandchildren, Riley and Dylan Gonzales, Abbey Grace Taylor and Madelyn Clare Pennell; a sister, SWEETIE WILLBERG and her husband, BENNY WILLBERG ; two brothers, E.H. Brosig and wife, Ceda, and Joe Brosig and wife, Nancy, all of Paint Rock; a stepdaughter, DEBBIE CUNNINGHAM and husband, ED CUNNINGHAM ; a stepson, Ricky Waters and wife, Teresa; three step-grandchildren, Brad Fly and Ashley and Mallory Waters, all of San Angelo; a special godchild, Renee Brosig Farmer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nephews including RALPH WILLBERG, STEVEN HOELSCHER , Clayton Brosig, Emmett Brosig, Rex Marks, Greg Hohensee, Tom Farmer and Duane Schniers will serve as pallbearers. The family requests memorials be made to West Texas Rehab Center, Hospice of San Angelo or the donors favorite charity.
