Joyce Darlene FREITAG

Joyce D. Cordry, age 82, of Manhattan, died May 15, 2012, at Via Christi Village in Manhattan. She was born September 25, 1929, in Diller, Nebraska, the daughter of George and Edith (Greider) Freitag. She graduated from Diller High School and from Fairbury Junior College in Education. Joyce taught school for several years prior to moving to Manhattan in 1953. She provided childcare in her home while her children were growing up and then worked in food service at Kansas State University for 16 years, retiring in 1992. On August 2, 1953, in Diller, Nebraska, she was married to Kenneth D. Cordry. Mr. Cordry preceded her in death on February 18, 2004. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Dwaine Freitag. Survivors include two children: Gail L. Brown of Olathe, Kansas, and Kevin D. Cordry of Gilbert, Arizona; two grandsons: David Brown and his wife Mary and Danny Brown all of Denver, CO; and two siblings: Mary Kunc of Salina, KS, and Darrel Freitag of Beatrice, NE. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Reverend Kevin Larson officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley View Memorial Gardens Cemetery east of Manhattan. The family of Mrs. Cordry will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 P.M.
