Born in Blue Rocks, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Nellie (Hynick) Tanner. In his earlier years, Louis went to sea and then later worked for over 40 years as a welder with ABCO Industries, Lunenburg. He was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg; a member of the Bridgewater Parkinson's Support Group and an active member of the Lunenburg Garden Club. Louis will be sadly missed by his family and friends who were so important in his life. He is survived by his wife, the former Marilyn Young; daughter, Carla and her husband, Michael Pittman, Lunenburg; son, Trevor and his wife Marion, Bridgetown; sister, Louise and her husband Leland Wamboldt, Halifax; brothers, Sherman and his wife Ann, Bridgewater; Gilbert Jr. and his wife Pat; Bernard, both of Lunenburg; grandchildren, Christine, Shannon, Jillian, Colin, and Nicole. He was predeceased by his brother, Leonard. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in Central United Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Robert Zinck officiating. Interment will be in Martin's Brook Cemetery, Martin's Brook. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central United Church, Martin's Brook Cemetery, Parkinson's Society Canada, Maritime Region or Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
