He was surrounded by his family and loving neighbors. Tim was born on Aug.15, 1946 in Ashton at the home of his parents. Tim is survived by his wife, Jill; his son, Brian Schaneberg; his daughter, Jodie (Claudio) Ramos; grandchildren, Isaac and Anniston Ramos; as well as his brother, William (Bill) Schaneberg and sister, Shirley (Cissie) Webb. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Rose (Hintzsche) Schaneberg, as well as siblings, Louise Hooberry, Rao Warning, Robert (Bob) Schaneberg, Edna (Bunny) White, LeRoy Schaneberg, Dola Bosecker and Dennis Schaneberg. Tim spent most of his life in the heartland of Illinois, which he so loved. He attended Ashton schools and settled in the Rochelle area where he lived until 2011 when he and Jill moved to Euless, Texas, to be near their grandchildren. Tim enlisted in the army in 1963 as a member of the 121st Signal Battalion, First Infantry Division known as the Big Red 1. He attended school in Fort Gordon, Georgia, and became a lineman. He was stationed at Fort Carlson, Colorado and Fort Riley, Kansas. His overseas service began in Korea before being deployed to Vietnam in 1965. Tim was honorably discharged in September 1966 as a Marksman (Rifle) and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He married Jill Gibbs on Oct. 5, 1968. They settled into a country home near Rochelle where they raised their children. Surrounded by farmland, they worked hard to create a space for family and friends to gather and connect. Tim’s spirit will always remain with that rural community encompassing Kings elementary school, Rochelle Vault company, Elim Reformed Church, and the surrounding farms. Before marrying, Tim worked as a long haul semi truck driver. He then attended Sterling beauty school and opened a shop in Stillman Valley. Although he enjoyed the creativity of hairstyling and interacting with clients, he missed the outdoors and wanted more variety in his daily activities. After some time at Alderks Tire, he started at Del Monte Foods as a gas truck driver and warehouseman where he worked until retirement. After moving to Euless, he worked part-time for American Airlines repairing luggage and altering uniforms. Tim was a gregarious person who loved chatting up everyone he met. He spent many early morning hours over a cup of coffee, exchanging news and gossip. Throughout the years, he was a regular at local coffee shops and the homes of his neighbors. He will be missed by his coffee buddies in Rochelle and Euless. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
