Dorothy Jane POTRATZ

<p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr"><strong>LYNCHBURG, Va. - Dorothy Jayne Potratz Settje, 82, of Lynchburg, Va., died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. She was the wife of the late Harry Gerhardt Settje. Born Thursday, Dec. 25, 1930, in Sumner, Iowa, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Hazel Moser Potratz. Dorothy attended Sioux Falls College and Upper Iowa University. She taught fifth gradein Steamboat Rock. Dorothy and Harry met through relatives and they were married at Little Brown Church in Nashua on June 18, 1952. She devoted her life to raising her sons and often opened her home to those in physical and spiritual need. Dorothy worked as a CNA at Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandma. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church, Sumner, with years of service teaching Sunday school and playing the piano. Her sincere desire was that others know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Lynchburg, Va., became her home in 2007,and she entered The Summit in 2008. The family wishes to express deep appreciation and sincere thanks to the staff of The Summit for their friendship, kindness, and care of Dorothy in the final yearsof her life. Dorothy is survived by three sons, Roger (Lisa) Settje of Lynchburg; Kenneth (Paulette) Settje of Forest, Va.; Keith (DeAnna) Settje of Lynchburg; a daughter-in-law, Athena Settje, of Waverly; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Carol Potratz, of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Margaret Lalk, of Hawkeye; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, March 16, 2000, son, Gordon Aug. 8, 2003, brother, Lorimer Potratz June 12, 1999, and brother-in-law, Herman Lalk Oct. 22, 2012. </strong></p>
