Er lernte Glasmacher in Bischofsgrün im Fichtelgebirge, hatte seine Gesellenzeit in Lauscha, war dort Hüttenmeister bis 1616 und siedelte dann nach Grumbach im reußischen Amt Lobenstein. Er gilt als Mitgründer der dortigen Glashütte. Seine Söhne waren in den unterschiedlichsten Berufen tätig, so z.B. als Bäcker, Schmied, Schindelmacher, Schieferdecker und Porzellanmaler.
