Dorothea Sophie Louise, daughter of Dietrich Honsbruch and Elsie nee Schroeder, was born Nov. 13, 1872 in Nienburg, Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. On Nov. 17, 1872 she was baptized. At the age of five years with hermother, she came to America. Her father had preceded them. The Honsbruch family settled in Cherokee County north of Aurelia. On April 18, 1886 she was confirmed by the Rev. G. Guelker in the Evangelical LutheranEmmanuel Church in Afton Township, Cherokee County. She was married toHeinrich Hinkeldey of Maple Valley Township on June 24, 1898 by the Rev. H. Wehking. This union was blessed with seven children. One was deadat birth. About six weeks ago, the deceased was taken sick with the flufrom which she did not fully recover, although not being bedfast. Shevisited with her critically ill daughter, Mrs. Arthur Dreier and the later part of the week she became bedfast. Sunday and Monday she seemed much stronger and better. She passed away to her heavenly home peacefully on Tuesday evening at about 8 o'clock. She reached the age of 65 years, five months and six days. She leaves to mourn, her husband, HeinrichHinkeldey, and six children, namely; three sons, Wilhelm, Christian and Johan; three daughters, Mrs. Herman Glienke, Mrs. Martha Fahr, Mrs. Emma Dreier; 11 grandchildren, one brother, Dietrich Honsbruch, three sisters, Mrs Sophie Hinkeldey, Mrs. Mary Lebeck, Mrs. Lizzie Kolpin. Thefuneral was held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 at St. John Lutheran Church. The Rev. O. Bahr had charge of the services assisted by Pastor Horn.
