Della Frieda MENKE

Della Frieda Grieme, the daughter of William and Martha (Radke) Menke,was born July 29, 1918 in Galva. She was baptized August 4, 1918 at St.John Lutheran Church, Hanover, and confirmed on March 20, 1932 at St.John Lutheran Church, Hanover. Della also attended the Hanover Parochial School.

On February 23, 1939, she was united in marriage to Lester J. Grieme atSt. John Lutheran Church, Hanover. This marriage was blessed with twochildren, Sandra and James (Jim).

Lester and Della were engaged in farming until Della suffered a severestroke in 1960. In 1961 they moved to Alta. Her husband worked at Hy-Grade Food Products and helped with many of the household chores. In 2006, she moved to Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake, to be closer to her daughter, Sandy. Della liked to paint, wrote and liked poetry, and lovedflowers. She was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hanover, Iowa and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of a neighborhood club and the 1918 Club.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents; her twosisters, Alice Fahr and Leora Trimble; and one brother, Wilmer Menke.
