Mrs. Sophia Deymann died at Mercy Hospital on October 12, 1925 after alingering illness aged 77 years.

Miss Sophia Freese was born in Hanover, Germany in 1848. She immigratedto America when 18 years of age, locating in Illinois where she was married to Frederick Eugene Deymann on October 23, 1866. With her husbandshe moved to Michigan, settling in Claybanks, Oceana County, when thattownship was a wilderness. With her husband she hewed a home out of the forest undergoing all the hardships of pioneer life. The fine farm she owned at the time of her death was an example of what thrift and prudence can accomplish and a ________ to the modern spendthrifts of today.Eight children were born to this union, seven of whom survive. They are Charlie, Robert, and Fred of Claybanks, William of Iowa, Edward, Mrs.Frank Wehrle and Mrs. Sophia Breen of Muskegon, also 21 grandchildren,and three great-grandchildren. She was a devout Christian, a kind, loving wife and mother, ever ready to help those in need and very much sought when there was sickness. Mr. Deymann died on December 12, 1911. Mrs. Deymann was an invalid for 12 years prior to her death, was very patient through her long suffering. For several years she had made her homewith her daughter, Mrs. Frank Wehrle, at 355 West Grand Avenue, Muskegon, going to Mercy Hospital only a few months before her death. Although a shut-in for years, she made many friends as was evidenced by the profusion of beautiful flowers. The funeral services were held at St. Johns Catholic Church in Claybanks on Oct. 17, 1925, of which she had beena member for fifty years. Rev. Fr. Drew officiated and burial was in St. John's Cemetery.
