FRITZ LUEDERS AND DORA DUNKER FAMILY, Otter Tail, MN
Fritz Lueders, son of John Henry and Margretta (Thalmann) Lueders, wasborn in Germany on June 24, 1859.
His parents were life long residents of Hannover, Germany. The family were members of the German Lutheran Church. They were the parents of thefollowing children: Herman, Mary, Dora, and Fritz. (Herman was the half-brother to Mary, Dora, and Fritz; his mother died. Afterwards his father married his mother's sister. He was known as H H Luders).
Herman, Mary and Fritz came to this country while Dora remained in thehomeland.
Fritz Lueders was educated in the schools of Germany. As a young man hecame to America on March 22, 1881, and landed in New York. He resumedhis journey to Brown County, Minnesota, where he worked for a year; later, he worked in Sibley County, Minnesota for seven months.
After a short visit to his homeland, he located in Otter Tail County and purchased 380 acres of land, one-half mile northeast of Ottertail.
Fritz Lueders was married to Dora Dunker, the daughter of Henry Dunker.To this union were born the following children: Henry, Fred, Ella, Herman, George, Olga, and Martha.
Henry farmed in Gorman Township and married Elisa Boland who died in 1938. He later married Minnie Keil and resided in California.
Fred farmed in Gorman Township and married Maude Truhn.
Ella married Herman Clasen of Ottertail, Minnesota, where they farmed in Leaf Lake Township.
Herman married Amanda Glaeser of Gibbon, and farmed on the home farm inOttertail, Minnesota.
George married Dorothea Thalmann and resides at Ottertail where he owned the Ottertail Oil Company.
Olga married John Clasen of Anaheim, California, where they resided until death.
Martha never married and resided in Anaheim, California, near her sister, Olga.
Mr. Lueders held the office of school treasurer for 20 years, treasurerof the Township for 10 years, as well as serving on the city council for many years. He farmed on his farm with his son, Herman, until his death in 1928. He and his family were active members of the German Lutheran Church of Ottertail.
