1852 - Mrs. Henry Dunker - 1949
Margarethe Dunker, nee Osterkamp, was born Oct. 9, 1852, in Schierholz,Germany, and passed away on April 1, 1949, near Deshler, Nebr., a stroke being the immediate cause of her death. Grandmother Dunked reached the very ripe age of 96 years, 5 months and 23 days.
In her later youth Mrs. Dunker came to America and settled near Chicago, in Cook County, Illinois, at which place she met and was united in marriage with Mr. Henry H. Dunker on Sept. 15, 1876. This marriage was blessed by God with six children, one son and five daughters.
Shortly after her marriage Mrs. Dunker moved with her husband to ThayerCounty, Nebr., and settled in the Friedensau community where she spentthe great part of her long life. After the death of her husband on July 14 (sic), 1914, she lived at her home 2 1/2 miles northeast of Deshler, Nebr., with her daughter, Mrs. Alvin Holtzen.
Grandmother Dunker was a life-long member of the Lutheran church, and one of the earlier members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Friedensau, of which Christian congregation she was still a member at the time of her death.
The deceased was preceded in death, besides her husband, by two of herchildren, Margaret, who died in early infancy, and her one son, HermanDunker, who passed away in May, 1948.
Those who survive her are: Her daughters, Mrs. Wm. Neuhart and Mrs. August Getz of Carleton, and Mrs. Lizzie Zutter and Mrs. Alvin Holtzen ofDeshler; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sophie Dunker; sons-in-law, Wm. Neuhart,August Getz and Alvin Holtzen; besides 33 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends and the members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Preceded by a brief service at the home, funeral services were held atTrinity Lutheran Church, Friedensau, Tuesday afternoon, April 5, conducted by the Rev. K.H. Schaaf, of Kiowa.
