Robert Leslie ZIRKLE

Robert Leslie Zirkle passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Blake Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. He was the youngest child of Lester Ray Zirkle and Bernice Lucille (Snell) Zirkle of Berryton, Kansas. He attended Berryton Schools and then Shawnee Heights High School after Berryton merged into that district. Bob was on the first Shawnee Heights football team. He graduated in 1965. Bob worked for area farmers, ran a farm of his own in later years, was a foreman at Essex Wire in Topeka, Kansas, and retired from Hallmark Cards after working there for 28 years. On December 12, 1970, he married Patricia Diane (Schemm) Zirkle. Together they raised two sons, Travis Allen Zirkle of Barnard, Kansas and Brian Lee Zirkle of Olathe. She passed away on December 3, 2002. Bob married Janet Long on February 24, 2016. Bob is survived by wife Janet (Long) Zirkle, sons Travis Zirkle (Jeff Wallace), Brian Zirkle, siblings Aurel Marney (Larry) and Louis Zirkle (Shirley), and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Davis Funeral Chapel with visitation from 9 to 11 A.M. and funeral service at 11 A.M. Graveside and burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Berryton, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
