Johann Friedrich (Frederick) ZAHN was born in Schwegenheim, (then part of Bavaria, but today of Rheinland-Pfalz) Germany on 29 Dec. 1819. His parents were Andreas and Anna Apollonia (SCHÄFFER) ZAHN. A few years after the death of his mother, his father moved the family to Pike Co., Ohio The farm is now known as Zahn's Corner, Ohio. Friedrich married Christina KRÜCK/KRICK on 02 Sep. 1841 in Pike Co., Ohio. To this marriage were born 8 children: John Adam, George Peter, Frederick, Magdalena, Henry, Christina, Rosina, Jacob. After her death in 1851, he married Margaret HOHENSTEIN on 04 Oct. 1855. Margaret was born on 23 Mar. 1825 in Brackenheim, (then part of the kingdom of Württemberg) Germany. To this marriage were born 5 children: William, Andrew, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Louis. In the early 1860s, Friedrich moved his family to Cass Co.Illinois, settling near Arenzville and Concord. In the 1870s, he retired to Canton, Lewis, MO, purchasing a large farm south of town. Friedrich died in Canton on 07 Mar. 1913 and is buried in the Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, Lewis, Missouri
