Stillwater News Press Charles Coy Mullins, 86, Stillwater, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, in Stillwater. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of God. Bob Brown will officiate. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Mullins was born Nov. 19, 1915, in Newton, Ala., to Willie J. Mullins and Gertrude (Carroll) Mullins. He attended school in Newton. He later moved to Claremore, where he met Mary H. Jones. The couple married in August 1934 in Brush Arbor. She preceded him in death. After the birth of their second child, Mullins was drafted into the infantry division of the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, he returned to Claremore before moving to Stillwater in 1950. He attended Oklahoma A&M, where he received an associate's degree in refrigeration, heating and air conditioning. He began working for the university, where he worked for 30 years until retiring. After the death of his first wife, Mullins married Esther Clausen Oct. 9, 1970. They were married for 30 years before her death. He held the position of treasurer in several organizations, including his church. His hobbies were fishing, bridge and dominoes. Mullins was a master gardener. He was very active in his church and was a charter member of the Ingalls Masonic Lodge. He was an anchor for his family and friends and will be deeply missed. He was a member of the American Legion, Oklahoma's Sheriff's Association, Ingalls Lodge 128, Past Master Mason, Stillwater Senior Citizens Board, past board member of Church of God and Refrigeration's Service Engineer's Society. Mullins is preceded in death by his parents, both wives, daughter, Ruby Virginia Bowen, and siblings, Willie J., Mattie Rea Adock, Gehu, Catherine Marchmen and Paul. He is survived by his son, Charles Warren Mullins; stepson, Ted Clausen; step daughters, Naida Parsons and Nelda Farukhi; three grandchildren, Kevin Bowen, Kim Bowen and R. Andrew Mullins; four great grandchildren, Isabella Jasmine Mullins-Haeri, Ashley Bowen, Charles Bowen and Krystal Bowen; and step great grandchildren, Stephanie and Elizabeth Abernathy.
