Notes for this person
Mrs. Mary J. McCall, beloved wife of our fellow townsman, J.M. McCall, died at her home in this city, early Sunday morning, Oct. 27, 1889, aged 48 years 9 months and 7 days. She was the daughter of Morgan Hickman, one of the early and most prosperous citizens of Knox county, Mo. Monday we laid her body away in the beautiful cemetery at Novelty; in the midst of many kindred, to await the Arch-Angel triumph. The services were conducted by the writer. In early girlhood Mrs. McCall accepted Christ as a personal Savior and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. She remained an honored member of that communion until death[.] Domestic in her tastes; loving her home and family, industrious and economical, deeply concerned for the intellectual and moral welfare of her children, she was in all the varied relations of life a splendid example to all observers. She leaves to her children, four of whom survive her, the priceless heritage of a spotless name, a christian example, and a mother's prayers.
