Arrangements are incomplete for Howard Hickman, 84, of Chicago, a former Danville resident. He died Friday (March 28, 1980) at a Veterans Administration convalescent home in Chicago. Hickman was a World War I veteran, having served in France with Machine Gun Co. D of Danville. He was gassed while in the front line trenches. Born July 26, 1895, in Danville, he was the son of Oscar and Edna White Hickman. He was married March 18,1920 to Mary Cosat [sic]. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Louise) Johnson of Danville; a sister, Mrs. Alice O'Keefe of Melrose, Mass., and a brother, Robert of Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Allen, both of Danville. The body was cremated and will be returned to Danville for services and burial at the Danville Veterans Administration Medical Center National Cemetery. DANVILLE COMMERCIAL-NEWS (30 March 1980).
